The Garden Tract Society (GTS) was founded in the early 1990s by Mrs. Eloise Felch who has chaired the non-profit organization for 15 years. Its primary focus has been to restore the neighborhood's appearance and to unite our neighbors against unwanted city initiatives such as extending Placer through the school grounds and across the canal.
I am Monique Gaido. I have lived in the Garden Tract neighborhood since 2002 and have observed an increase in neighborhood crime. I began to share my concerns with neighbors. Ms. Felch and I discussed reconvening the neighborhood society with a new focus on crime. We would like to see if there is interest in gathering the neighborhood more regularly again, and if so, what goals you would like to set for our neighborhood.
Our initial meeting will be at the Cypress School cafeteria on Wednesday evening, January 7th, at 7 pm. We hope to discuss crime in the neighborhood, traffic calming for Locust, South, and/or Continental Sts, and any other interests you might have. Please mark your calendars and join us for the first meeting. We will distribute flyers a week before the meeting to let everyone know about it and about this blog site.
Thanks for your interest and I look forward to our first meeting.
